Snowboarding in the Tashiro area of Kagura ski resort
Snowboarding in the Tashiro area

The Tashiro area of the ski resort is a mix of more gentle cruising slopes, interspersed with some hardcore natural mogul runs - the bumps reach gigantic proportions by May, towards the end of the season.

In general, the Tashiro area has a more relaxed feel to the aggressive runs and adrenalin thrills of Kagura.

Tashiro resort is accessible either by skiing or riding through Mitsumata and Kagura ski areas, or by riding the Tashiro ropeway from ground level.

Tashiro courses zigzag around Tashiro lake. The lake freezes over completely by February. As such, its possible to tell the stage of the season by the extent to which the lake is frozen over. It looks like the photo to the right was taken around mid-January.

Tashiro area kids area

Tashiro resort has a small snow park, containing a few jumps. Here you can try things out, before attempting the more aggressive jumps in Mitsumata.

Close to the ropeway, there is also a kids play area, shown in the photo to the left. The 'tobikoi' fishes show that this photo was taken in early May: throughout the country you will see this, in celebration of the 'childrens day' national holiday.
