Nozawa Onsen, Nagano Prefecture

Nozawa Onsen is a tradiational Japanese spa town, about 3hrs by train and bus from Tokyo. The natural volcanic water source has a very high mineral content, to the extent that 'yubana' mineral deposits can be seen in the bathing water.

Apart from great baths, Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort is fantastic - a huge resort which we rate for the intermediate to advanced skiier and boarder, though the lower slopes are also family friendly.

Hakuba, Nagano Prefecture

Hakuba valley is home to some great ski resorts including Hakuba 47, Hakuba Goryu and Happo-One resorts. This is a veritable skier and snowboarder paradise.

It takes about 3hrs to get to Hakuba from Tokyo by bullet train and bus.

Hakuba gained fame throughout the world as the venue for a variety of events at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics. The area is increasingly becoming popular with western visitors.

Shiga Kogen, Nagano Prefecture

Situated in the heart of Johshinetsu Kogen National Park, Nagano Prefecture, Shiga Kogen is the largest ski resort in Japan, offering 21 interlinked resorts all on one lift ticket! Surrounded by some 2,000m high mountains, the high altitude makes for very good snow quality.
Shiga Kogen covers a huge area and offers a great diversity of natural terrain.

Tokyo

Many of our international customers arrange a stop-off at Tokyo, before moving on to Narita or Haneda airports. Tokyo is a huge metropolis offering allsorts of activities, including trips to Disneyland with the kids, shopping in Omotesando, and checking out the street fashions in Harajuku.

The ideal pattern is to ski during Monday to Friday, and then check out Tokyo at the weekend. This way, you get the slopes almost to yourself and cheap hotel rates, but can still enjoy all that Tokyo has to offer!
